Why We Built Lynktern

For many Nigerian university and polytechnic students, SIWES is supposed to be a bridge between school and the real world. But in reality, it often feels disorganised, stressful, and outdated.

At Lynktern, we did not just study this problem. We experienced it.

The Problem With SIWES Today

SIWES, as required by the Industrial Training Fund, is meant to provide practical experience. But many Nigerian university and polytechnic students face the same challenges every year.

Paper Logbooks

Students are expected to manually record their daily activities. These logbooks can get lost, damaged, or filled with incomplete entries.

Missing Supervisor Sign Offs

Many students struggle to get their logbooks signed regularly. This leads to last minute panic and incomplete records.

Disorganised Training Experience

There is often no clear system for tracking progress, communicating with supervisors, or organising tasks.

For Nigerian university and polytechnic students, this turns SIWES into a stressful requirement instead of a meaningful experience.

The Gap We Saw

At Lynktern, we realised something important.

The problem was not just SIWES itself. The problem was how it was being managed.
